4 Tips To Get Rid of Stretch Marks

Stretch marks can be very unslightly and come as quite a shock to many when they appear!  The main cause of stretch marks is the inner layers of skin being broken as the skin stretches.

One of the most common reason for stretch marks is pregnancy or rapid weight gain.  As with anything often prevention is much easier than cure and unfortunately there really are no magical creams or potions that will completely heal your inner layers of skin but there are things you can do to help to reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

The earlier you take action the better!  Stretch marks first appear as red lines , which later fade to silvery white thread like marks.

The following are some suggestions that you may find useful

1.  At the first sign of stretch marks massage the area regularly using an intensive moisturising cream.  Some people recommend coco butter and others believe that aloe Vera is the best.  Both seem to work equally well, but the important thing is the gently massage at least twice a day with these creams to help keep the skin moist and soft.

2.  Some women have managed to disguise the marks by using a mild self tanning solution.  Rubbed carefully into the area will both moisturise and help to colour the silvery white marks.

3.  Cosmetic surgery may sound extreme but if you have worked hard to loose weight, don’t you deserve to treat yourself and remove the loose skin areas?  Tummy tucks and nips can often remove both excessive skin and stretch marks at the same time.

4.  Lotions and potions are often recommended and again some work better than others but there have so far been no proven results of any of the potions being a magical solution.  Some do seem to reduce the appearance but it could be argued that this is down to the moisturising and massaging of the creams.

This is not really my problem but my wife’s. Well now I have something to show her that I actually am doing something to help her with her problem. But I also want her to learn that having stretch marks is natural when you just gave birth. She persists in telling me it is because she doesn’t exercise too often.
